Baccalaureate, Business and Enterprise Faculty
Baccaulaureate
The Baccalaureate offers a unique opportunity for pupils to develop essential skills for life, work and further study. At GCSE level (National/Foundation), pupils complete an individual project and two challenge: Enterprise and Employability and Global Citizenship. Through these, they develop skills such as organizing and planning, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity and personal effectiveness.
At A Level (Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales), the qualification builds on these skills through three projects: the Global Community Project, Future Destinations Project, and Individual Project. These qualifications support pupils in becoming active, creative and aware citizens, preparing them thoroughly for university, apprenticeships or employment.
Business
In the Business department, pupils explore how businesses operate in a dynamic world, from small local businesses to international companies. At GCSE level, they develop an understanding of key areas such as marketing, finance, operations, human resources and the impact of external factors on businesses. Pupils learn how to analyse information, make business decisions and solve problems critically.
At A Level and AS Level, the study goes deeper into business strategy, performance analysis, managing change and operating in global markets. Pupils develop analytical, evaluative, decision-making and communication skills – transferable skills that prepare them for further education or the world of work.
Digital Technology
Whilst studying Digital Technology in Years 7–9, pupils develop essential skills in coding, data modeling, animation, game design and artificial intelligence. Through practical and creative projects, they learn how to use technology effectively, safely and ethically. The curriculum nurtures computational thinking, problem solving, collaboration and digital communication – transferable skills for the future.
On the GCSE Digital Technology course, pupils build on these skills by exploring digital systems, analyzing data, creating digital products and designing online marketing campaigns. The qualification combines theoretical knowledge with practical assessments, preparing pupils for the modern workplace or further study in technology.
